Man oh man, how could you not love it. coincidentally, most recently, a Very good friend and riding partner of mine named Mark Crawford (Crow) and I happened to have the same time for summer vacation. So when he asked when I was going up to our cottage in Hope Bay Ontario. I told him that the family and I were going up the Monday before Canada Day and I was riding my Sporty up as I had plans to ride with a Legend that week"Old Mike Hunter" See Mike used to ride with the Hench Men when I was just a young lad. He was at the club house the night when chief Brown sent the dogs in. It was not very pretty espeacially if you were on the recieving end, but that is a whole nother story in it's self. He being Crow said that he had the week off however his wife Karen ( Shelly) had to work and that he wondered if he could ride along. I asked if he was kidding I was excited as I have not been riding with this guy in a year as he has had some major renos going on at his place. So my Gal Kell and my son Lucky along with his girl Amanda were riding pack in the car and followed us up. The day could not have been any nicer, for me that is. But it was typical for my buddy Crow to be feeling the chill and chew about the wind. He's a Scott, what can I say ? All joking aside, I just love riding with this guy. Don't get me wrong, I am no gear box or anything, but when I ride with Crow it is like riding with no one else. We just seem to know what each other is going to do in any given scenario, synchronicity if you will and that provides one with a certain comfort level, although I do get a little nervous when someone lets the dogs out. That is a little inside joke as it was Crow that got taken out by a farm dog 4 years ago while doing a run to Oshweken for smokes. We were out of old K-Town by noon and cruised up with only a few needed butt breaks and one coffee break at Tim Hortons. I find things have really changed from the old day's when we used to judge distance of a run buy the amount of bars you would hit until you would arrive at your destination (If you were lucky enough to arrive alive that is) Now everyone stops at Tim Hortons along the way. You can pretty well bet on it, that when you stop there you will bump into a fellow rider or riders that are always willing to shoot the shit about one thing or other. Usually about Bikes though. The Ride would not have been complete however with out a stop at The Harley Blues Cafe found on Grey Road #10 in Scone Ontario, Canada. the Modo there is it is the #1 Pit stop for High Performance People. This place is awesome. It's owned and operated by a real spark plug name Nadia. She is this sexy french girl and doesn't take crap from anyone. She is no dip stick let me tell you she can ride and has with the best and the worst. She runs a great chip wagon (Hell Fries) outside the main building that sells BLT's, Back Bacon on a bun, Burgers, dogs and stuff like that. But inside the main building is where she has done all her tasteful decorating. Believe me when I say this place is very nice. In the main sitting area she has let all us Rider types put our signatures up on the walls in fact when Crow and I stopped in Nadia actually took the time with us to help me search for my own little ditty up there from a past stop over four or five years ago. I know there has been a few times I have had to ride right by as her place was closed you see Nadia has been battling some cancer yet she has tried very hard not to let it beat her down. I think she is a real Road Warrior for doing as much as she does when she can. She takes care of all the local folks in this small farm community and takes in one or two when they have just been a little down on their Luck. Great Gal really, so if you can stop in to see her and say Hi, tell her Harley sent you, it is a great little stop over. Book her place for a party perhaps or make it a stop for your Poker Run if you can. She could really use our support. the address is 015193 Grey Bruce Line in Scone Ontario, Canada PH# (519) 363-6702 Just ask for Nadia. Nadia is one of those extraordinaries that if your fortunate enough to run into one on your journey will fill your mind with food for thought for the ride ahead and fill your belly with the nourishment and good food and great coffee to carry you on your way. So stop in if you can this summer she would love to see you.
